The founder of RTR Vehicles and drift car racer Vaughn Gittins Jr is about to introduce a first-ever specially treated pickup truck. However, the 2019 Ford F-150 RTR isn’t any surprise at all because the automaker revealed the concept version earlier at SEMA. The manufacturer is still tight-lipped about the production version which will become available early next year.
I suppose, however, that the production model is going to be pretty much the same the concept. More precisely, the 2019 Ford F150 RTR is going to feature a special treatment that includes coilover suspension and off-road wheels. The alloys will come wrapped in 33-inch Nitto Ridge Grappler tires. As such, the pickup truck gets essentially lower and aggressive stance, which is, by the way, wider too. This F-150 will get RTR lights and grille in the front, as well as unique taillight graphics. The front end also gets skid plates and a set of fender flares. The cabin will be coupled with special leather treatment and dash plaque featuring Gittin Jr.’s signature, while everything else should mirror the regular F-150.
The new “ready to rock” will most probably use the same powertrain as the concept. Truth to be told, the automaker hasn’t confirmed the information yet, but I suppose that the 2019 F-150 RTR won’t get rid of the amazing supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine that pumps out over 600 horsepower. The engine will be paired with an all-wheel-drive system that gets power through Blue Oval’s 10-speed automatic transmission. The production version of the wild pickup truck will also keep the concept’s Magna Flow exhaust system.
Potential customers will not be obligated to buy strictly the 2019 Ford F150 RTR. They will also be able to purchase individual RTR parts and accessories through Ford dealerships in North America. This way, the truck keeps warranty valid. The automaker hasn’t revealed pricing information so far.
