In contrast to most of the German automakers, French carmaker Renault can’t brag with any coupe-like crossover at the moment. However, that’s going to change soon, because they are working on their first coupe SUV as we speak. I know that because the model has been spied couple days ago. The vehicle, which is rumored to be named the 2019 Renault Captur Coupe will be previewed in the concept form at the upcoming Moscow Auto Show. The producer released a single teaser of the front end ahead of the debut, while the testing model points out what’s cooking in the back, so I’ve managed to put pieces together.
As I see at the first glance, the 2019 Renault Captur Coupe won’t share anything at all with the regular Captur. Instead, the coupe-like crossover will be closely related to the Kaptur. These two will share the same architecture and will have pretty much the same footprint. In the front, the model gets a pair of slim C-shaped LEDs which are connected with an attractive radiator grille. Below, the front bumper hosts mesh-treated air intakes. The profile reveals a sloped roof and prominent shoulders, while the rear large hatch appears to feature big taillights.
The interesting vehicle will likely offer a range of engines. However, it’s important to say that neither of them is going to be able to compete with drivetrains that power BMW’s or Mercedes’ coupe-like SUVs. The 2019 Renault Captur Coupe will most likely get a range of turbo units including 0.9 and 1.2 TCe, and 1.5 dCi, as well as the latest 1.3-liter TCe unit. They will be paired either with a six-speed manual of seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. I am not so sure what to say about the RS version of the coupe-like SUV, but the latest reports say that the topper is going to be available right away. The most potent version of the Captur Coupe will reportedly deliver over 220 horsepower, which doesn’t sound bad at all.
Still, before the coupe-SUV actually becomes available, the French carmaker will introduce the concept version soon, and then we will have more valid information that regards the all-new and attractive 2019 Captur Coupe.
