2020 Buick Encore: Redesign, Spy, Changes, Engines, Arrival

Buick has built a fine lineup in a couple of years, so it seems now that they could be as competitive as the biggest names in the U.S. automobile industry. Not that I am saying they are smaller form others, but they had some difficult time in the past. The bad era is hopefully finished for good, so the carmaker can finally show its full potential. What do you say about the new Regal or LaCrosse? They are real beauties, though the big money is in crossovers, which is why the carmaker constantly works on them. Believe it or not, they are developing the 2020 Buick Encore as we speak. Yes, the pocket-sized SUV is getting ready for another big step, which will happen sometime next year.

This is the first ever prototype of the redesigned Encore. It’s totally camouflaged, which means that the testing model hides some new styling cues already. As far as I can see right now, the 2020 Buick Encore is going to be less dynamic than the current model, thanks to the flatter hood lines and A-pillar. In addition to the new shape, the SUV will definitely get new grille and headlights in the front, as well as a pair of redesigned taillights and new bumper around back. The carmaker will not have to think up everything new. Instead, the small SUV will probably borrow some of the aforementioned details from the new Regal or LaCrosse.

The next-gen Encore is going to use the new platform. The architecture is reportedly not going to be all-new. Instead, the crossover should borrow an updated version of platform sued for the Chevrolet Bolt. Thus the redesigned Encore will grow in length and width which will have a positive influence on interior space. It will also bring a possibility for the electrified powertrain. Though I am not sure this is going to happen at all. Instead, the crossover will keep the current 1.4-liter turbo, but just a 153-hp version, while a 138-hp option will not exist anymore. Buick will, on the other hand, add a new topping option which will probably rely on a 2.0-liter turbo-four. I don’t know how many ponies are going to deliver the engine, though I’m sure it’s capable to pump out over 270 horsepower. In any case, both engines are going to use a standard nine-speed auto transmission without any doubt.

Buick will introduce the completely redesigned small crossover early next year, which means that the 2020 Encore should become available in dealerships across U.S. next summer.
