AMG’s flagship GLE Coupe has been spotted testing on snow. The topper is using plenty of camouflage, so it’s hard to figure out what’s actually happening beneath. However, there are several giveaways that separate the 2020 Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 Coupe from the rest of automaker’s fleet.
The vanilla model hosts a Panamericana grille in the front, which won’t be the case with the GLE 53 for an example. No, the lower trim gets a single-bar treatment in the front. Also, the coupe-like GLE 63 gets four square exhaust pipes, while the 53 model uses the same number of oval tips. Anyway, in addition to the amazing grille, the SUV features a chunky bumper that has been coupled with large air intakes. The 2020 Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 Coupe is fitted with notably wider fenders and rides on large wheels with beefy brakes.
The flagship coupe will likely keep a dual-screen setup for its dashboard, so don’t expect the latest
The most important part of the 2020 Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 Coupe is under the hood of course. The automaker will use a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 mill capable of delivering 603 horsepower. The most potent S model will squeeze off 612 hp from the same option, though. The engine will be fitted with a 9-speed automatic transmission that sends power to an all-wheel-drive setup. According to first estimates, the coupe-SUV will be able to develop 60 mph from 0 in just 3.8 seconds.
The stunning coupe-SUV will not become available this year, but sometime in 2020, so I expect more testing prototypes over the year
