Judging by the spy shots, Audi is expanding its go-fast crossover division. After they’ve introduced the SQ2, the German carmaker started working on the SQ8, which will be followed by the RS Q8. At the time the flagship SUV receives its shot of adrenaline, the top-speed division is going to get the RS Q3, and right after that, the automaker will introduce the 2021 Audi RS Q4.
The most potent Q4 has been spotted testing a few hours ago. As you can see, the prototype hides everything under the camouflage, so I am currently able to see just these green fenders and nothing else. Luckily for us, the regular Q4 coupe-SUV has been spied testing countless times so far, so it’s not too hard to figure out what’s cooking for the vanilla model.
Compared to the regular Q4, the testing prototype of the 2021 Audi RS Q4 is clearly pushed further to the ground. Also, it uses larger wheels with bigger brakes, and most likely a specially tuned suspension. In the rear, the model shows oval exhaust tips which are typical for the high-performance division; while the front fascia hints that there might be additional air intakes when the production model arrives.
There’s no doubt what’s going to power the Audi RS Q4; the sloped-rood SUV will come coupled with a 2.5-liter turbocharged inline-5 engine that currently delivers 400 horsepower. The unit will most definitely be improved by the time the hot Q4 arrives, so the SUV could easily have even more power (let’s say 414 hp ). The powertrain will also consist of a seven-speed dual-clutch auto transmission and Quattro all-wheel-drive. According to the first reports, by using the drivetrain the 2021 RS Q4 will be able to achieve reach 60 mph in 4 or 5 seconds.
Stay tuned for updates.
